Hi everyone. I know lot's of people on this board take various supplements to try to help their dizzies and I was wondering if anyone was taking things to boost brain power or support the nervous system.

I was about to get plantago and goldenseal as these had been recommended for labyrinthitis, however the reasoning given was to reduce inflammation and to help fight infection. As I have been diagnosed with vestibular neuronitis I presume that it is nerve damage which is now causing the problem and the infection itself has gone, therefore I wondered how helpful they would really be.

I was reading an article in the weekend papers relating to omega-3 fish oils and how they promote healthy working of the brain, and can even be effective in conditions such as hyperactivity and depression. Figured something like this might aid the brain in it's quest to compensate for the dodgy ear.

Does anyone take this supplement, or anything else to boost brain fuction or support the nervous system (might boost nerve regeneration!!). Any tips gratefully recieved.

Hi there Dizzyblonde,

I wrote a post about the supplements I am taking. It is under the post heading 'hbep' and was posted by Scant. I think it's now lurking on page 3. I am using some things I looked up and some from John of Ohio's regime - a menieres sufferer ( I realise we don't have this but it still applies) and biologist who has managed to go in to total remission with the use of a regime of supplements he worked out. I don't know about any of them aiding nerve regeneration, but I know a lot of the things he suggested aid blood flow to the brain and the inner ear. I think much of his theory is based around trying to get that to happen as opposed to fighting off infection. Do a search on him and you'll find his web page where he explains the reason for taking each of the supplements.

hi dizzyblonde1

i'm taking a multivitamine for active women with trace minerals, 50mgs of B complex, 1000mgs of vitamine C, and 4 vitamine D suplinents for a deficiency(Halibut liver oil). alot of people are also taking thinks like Ginko and ginger root. there was a really good site on supliments if i can run across it again i'll post it.

Hi I take Omega 3 in the form of a fish oil capsule. Vitamin B complex, 400 E, C, I just bought some CoQ10. Looking up vertigo the first supplement listed was Choline, I am going to try it. A lady at GNC said taking Coq10 cured her vertigo. Its worth a try to take the Omegas it shouldn't hurt you. Linda

I take over 30 different supplements a day, including most of the Johns of Ohio regime. The only thing I can't stress enough is to make sure they are of the best quality. I took Ginko back in the beginning and because it was not of premium quality it actually had a poison ivy effect on me. I couldn't stop itching. Within two days after i stopped this supplement, the itching went away, I am now on a top quality ginko and no adverse affects other than I black and blue easily because alot of the stuff I take is to enhance blood flow. If you want the list of stuff I take, I'd be more than happy to oblige. You have a good day dizzy. By the way are you still working?
