I was diagnosed with Labrynthitis five years ago after waking up with severe dizziness that stabilized, but reoccurred each time I would change head positions.

It went away, then returned a couple of months ago after a long car trip, and this time it lasted for weeks. Sometimes the dizziness would be severe, when laying flat on the affected side or standing up rapidly. Otherwise, I would feel it less severely just from walking around, and especially after driving.

I finally had an EPLEY MANEUVER done - which took five minutes. It is GONE and was GONE IMMEDIATELY.

Find someone who can do this if you have had BBPV and the "vague" dizziness for a long time. It has a high cure rate.

As a born skeptic I did not expect this to work, and am so happy it has I wanted to pass this info along.

I also had what is called "Positional Vertigo". It was when I laid down on my right side or turned over to my right side. It felt like an electrical current zapping me. I sometimes would have to hang on to the bed and blink my eyes to try to stay conscious.

There are some exercises that may help. You can find them on the web under "positional vertigo". Also, always sleep on at least two pillows. What works for me is the following (the vertigo goes away then comes back every now and then).

NEVER lay on the affected side. It can be uncomfortable but will only be necessary for a week to ten days. When you decide to test it, lay on your good side, then in very small increments turn your head towards the affected side. If it zapps you turn your head back to the safe position immediately.

I believe that not letting it happen gives it a chance to "heal". When it comes back on me now I do the above and it takes care of it in just a few days.

Sure hope this helps someone. It is a very uncomfortable malady to have.
