Hi All, I am hoping someone can offer some advice, I have been dealing with this head thing for about 4 months now and have gone to a neurotologist thanks to the help of you all, I also had an ENG test done which they said has come back normal...I posted in the past all the symptoms that I have had and all the tests including a brain MRI an, EEG, a CT of my sinuses and a bunch of blood work!! My question now is, the Neurotologist has told me that I MAY, MAY being the key work have something called Hydrops?? but she isn't really even sure so she perscribed me some Diazide to work with the symptoms and told me that it takes a few months with the medication for my symptoms to improve, she said that hydrops are a fluid adn pressure imbalance in the ears and that the cause is unknown, I am the type of perosn who does not like to take medicine unessarily so after consulting with my general physician, he said go ahead and try it because diazide doesn't have any really bad side effects...so needless to say today is my first day taking the pills and i just worry that maybe the docotrs are missig something? Do I truly have hydrops or is it something else, I have a weird sensation in my left ear that feels like a bubble or soemthing that tickles inside my ear, is it a tumor or acoustic neuroma, does a brain mri tell if i had a tumor or acousitc neuroma in my ear? can someone please offer any help cause i am so confused?????? am i taking this medicine for no good??? has anyone taken diazide? if so what has yur experience been? has anyone been diagnosed with hydrops? what are your symptoms? have you gotten better? i would like to think that i am very slowly improving with better days and then some not so good days and the so called dizziness isn't as strong and my eyes seem to feel a little better visualy but i am so left with this feeling of a tickle buble in my leaft ear and some occassional popping and occasional pressure swollen feeling in my head but the worst is the out of it foggy feeling?
Did the doctor mention what kind of Hydrops? Did she mention Meniere's disease? I am afraid I am not much help as I was just diagnosed with Meniere's two days ago and am sort of a novice on all of this as well. You may want to do what I am doing and search the web on Meniere's Disease, Endolymphatic Hydrops, and Vestibular Hydrops, maybe that will help. Good luck.
Sounds like the same thing acoustic neuroma. Have the MRI. That's how they found mine after dealing with dizziness, enbalance, falling, hearing loss, pressure in ears, 10-ear infections, plus the 1-2 second black outs, like you're turning on and off a light switch. Plus the feeling of swelling of the brain, tightness, if that makes any sense.

The MRI would have shown an acoustic neuroma. Did you have an ECOG done? Its not a very reliable test, but it is the test for hydrops which is the same as endolymphatic hydrops. Some docs use this as a synonym as Meniere's and some consider it separate. Diazide is a diuretic and is pretty harmless. It can lower your blood pressure, so if that is an issue for you you may want to watch the dosage. Other than that you'll probably pee a lot and lose some weight. Also the doctors will usually combine it with a low salt diet, a natural diuretic. Did your doctor mention this?
I was diagnosed with endolymphatic hydrops at one point in the middle of my illness. I did the diuretic and low salt diet for about a month with no changes and went off it and continued looking for a new diagnosis. Its a pretty benign treatment though and probably worth a shot in case it works for you! At least then you can rule it in or out. Good luck to you!
