diuretics to treat meniere's, yicky yuck! - Inner Ear Disorders Message Board

Is anyone taking diuretics to treat Meniere's Disease? I started them on Wednesday, and so far, what a myserable experience. I was actually feeling somewhat well (relative to the last three months of dizzies and general motion sick symptoms), and now, my stomach is upset all day long, I have little spurts of buzzy dizziness, and I find myself a bit more sensitive to the tv motion again. I understand there should be a breaking in period with diuretics, but good grief. Anyone else experienced increased symtoms when you started? I thought this was supposed to stave off an attack. I am giving it the weekend, and then I see a neuro oto guy on Monday. I will take it up with him. Anyone have any thoughts on this? Thanks.

Hi - I have read your posts and our symptoms are alike....hmmmmmm.....but I do not have mienieres...weird. I can sooooo relate to that buzzy dizzy, imbalance stuff. Not nice eh. :smile:

Hi Willsmom,
I am glad that we can relate, but sorry, that you have similar symptoms. What was your diagnosis? Do you have one? I am a bit skeptical of my diagnosis as I think I mentioned previously. I am really looking forward to getting a fresh perspective from this Neuro-Oto doc. I hope he has some insight, or can at least explain to me why my illness is characterized as Meniere's when I don't seem to have all the classic symtoms. I have to drive to Denver to see him, an hour and a half drive, but hopefully it will we worth it. I will post on what I find out for sure. I hope you have an ok day today, thanks for relating!
