Question Question about fluid....

Hi again! I have a quick question....been to the ENT and among a million other things, he says there is no fluid in my ears. How come when I belch or bring suck in I can feel a popping and something moving in my ear? He also said there is no pressure probs. Also, if this is not a sinus thing (sinus ct came back clear) then how come I have contant (and I mean CONSTANT!) post nasal drip??? I try taking alittle bit of sudaphed every once in awhile and that does dry it up alittle...but it has side effects that i do not like since I suffer from anxiety. Any suggestions????

Hi LarLarz
Sounds like you may have allergies. It is a good thing to have post nasal drip. It means your sinuses are draining. A CT scan would show if they were not.
Try something like Flonase and see if it helps any. Try not to over do it. I used it for months and it dried my sinuses out too much.
I also have the popping ear thing. It was constant for a while but now it is very intermittant. I had fluid in my ear in the beginning of this mess (March). I think the initial infection caused an irritation of my Eustachian Tube. The ENT said it could take awhile for the popping and clicking to stop.

Hope you feel better soon.
Mia

Cool

Some info: In case you weren't told, & most aren't,
most problems are clumped into Eustachian Disorder,ETD.
These tubes are located in the back of `throat'. They
then go `up' to connect @ the ears `tympanic cavity'.
This is behind your eardrum. Yawn & you tug on the ET.
Swallow or chug water = same. A click sound may be ET
snapping walls @ narrow part. Popping is air force try-
ing to pressurize like the mountains. These problems
are awful & I don't belive any ENT knows how to fix or
I'd be there w/ $ in hand. Sometimes the tube sticks
& gas forms causing fluid deep in ear. There are trials @ UCLA trying to `tube the tube' in serious
non-motor patients. `You're born w/ auto-working ears
& now brain won't make it happen'. Most ENT's aren't
trained to think out-of-the-box. 8 yrs. of suffering to extreme, I got med-bks & told a Dr. I know i'm dying so humor me. I had a simple Coronal CT & they
found a tumor had engulfed rt. Maxillary, melted bone @
temple to ear & on it's way to my brain. 16 docs & not one would `think'. 4 surgeries later to access it, the surgeon said it was obvious to him on film but he might have missed symptoms also since it was so rare.
Guess I now have ear atrophy. Brain won't pop ear. Ear tubes failed after 2 weeks. Had 3. Allergy test = Neg. Nasal drip could be due to inflammation of system, like your inside tissue is sweating. Hope I can help
someone to keep pushing & replace the MD if they're not
thinking! If it was their daughter, (expert guns in!)

Hey Murphy
Thanks for your input.
I had a head CT and a lot of MRIs. I have ruled out any type of tumor. Thank goodness.
I have come to the conclusion that most Doctors deal mainly with routine stuff and just don't have the time to do research or even "think" about the more complicated cases. They prescribe something and hope that your symptoms go away before your next visit. Unfortunately for us dizzies this isn;t the case. Therefore, if you don't get any answers, find yourself the nearest research hospital and demand to be tested.
There are a lot of people on these boards who have seen good doctors and have had tests done. Sometimes just knowing that it is not something will help give you piece of mind.

Take Care
Mia

I had a ct of the sinuses, a thorough(sp?) exam at the eye docs (blurry vision-I now have a very light prescription) and an MRI of the brain-neg. Tested by the ENT for hearing loss and fluid and pressure. Neg. That would rule out tumors wouldn't it? (esp. the CT's and MRI?)
