Post Light headed - thoughts?

For the past 6 weeks or so I've been getting light headed (not really what I would describe as dizzy) when I move my head around. When I'm still at my desk, laying down in bed or watching TV I'm pretty much ok...but when I get up and move around it comes back. Spinning my body around or moving my head up and down seem to trigger it the most.

Maybe coinsidence, but it all started shortly after I got an upper respiratory infection after a few really bad days of allergies. Went to an urgent care clinic and prescribed a z-pack. That infection cleared up but the light headedness remained.

Went to PCP and she thought it was allergy / sinus related, prescribed taking daily allergy meds and methyl pred. The methyl pred seemed to help some with the light headedness but made me feel awful otherwise.

Few days later went to ENT, he performed hearing test, ENG and CT of my sinuses. The CT showed a slight infection in the sphenoid sinus and he prescribed amoxicillin and antivert as needed. Antivert helped but knocked me out so I stopped taking it. Half way through the amox I thought I was cured but symptoms returned a couple of days later.

Followed up with the ENT and he basically said since the tests he ran were ok and the sinus infection should be gone he wanted me to go to the Neurologist. I saw one that day and got a MRI which came back clean (sinuses were ok too). He seems to be focusing more on migranes as the source, even though I don't get that many headaches.

I know that's alot to read, but the main symptom is the light headedness when moving about, especially turning around.

I've been reading around and have a couple of ideas on what the problem might be but I would very much appreciate any feedback you all can give me with all of the personal experiences you've had.

Thanks for the help.

Re: Light headed - thoughts?

sounds like you have BPPV. loose crystals are most likely causing your lightheadness. you can find a good amount of info on the sticky at the top of the inner ear board. good luck.
