Question The Medical Gauntlet has been Thrown (with Vigor)

I have been symptomatic for approximately 12 years. My main symptom is a constant (from morning to night) rocking sensation in my head. Ancillary symptoms include (but are not limited to) tinnitus, pressure around the periphery of the head, anxiety, and occasional headaches that are exacerbated with exercise. It must be noted that my main symptom is made worse by anxiety and sleeplessness. I did have the caloric test and non-contrast brain MRI near the beginning of this whole ordeal and both were negative. I also have had my heart checked which was found to be in good working order. Thyroid, blood sugar, blood pressure, liver...all normal. I do have an extreme difference in sight between my left and right eyes and my vision is uncorrected. But, that would not explain the tinnitus. It does seem like the rocking sensation and pressure is much worse toward the end of a workday. I must reiterate that the rocking sensation has been nonstop for 12 years. I would appreciate any help. Thank you and God bless!

Re: The Medical Gauntlet has been Thrown (with Vigor)

Hi Golden,

Very sorry you have been suffering for so long. The good news is that you've just described migraine associated vertigo – you sound like a textbook case! Rocking is very commonly reported in this. The other symptoms are classic MAV. Furthermore, exercise is a major trigger for a migraineur and is why you feel so much worse afterwards. Do a search on the web for "MAV" or migraine associated vertigo or mvertigo – it's all called vestibular migraine. Note that most people don't even consider this dx because they think migraine is only a severe headache. It's most definitely not and covers a number of neurological issues and is probably the most common cause of vertigo and dizziness.

Best ... Scott
