Labyrinthitis and tinnitus?

Hi everyone,
I was just wondering for those of you who have been diagnosed with labyrinthtis do you have tinnitus? If you do is it just in one ear or both and is it there all the time or does it come and go??

I have it in both ears and its driving me crazy and making me think I have something else otehr than labyrinthitis...

Hope to hear from you all.. Please even if you dont have tinnitus please tell me thanks

Re: Labyrinthitis and tinnitus?

I don't know what laby... means ,but i have had Tinnitis in both ears for several years.I had no meds for it,but see current ads with a "cure".I am afraid of new meds as I had a bad reACTION FROM ONE 10 YEARS AGO,AND IT AFFECTED MY VISION.
(Caps are accidental)I just try to ignore mine, and carry on with my recurrent depression. Luck...Bill

Re: Labyrinthitis and tinnitus?

Hi Jackie,

Tinnitus can be caused by a lot of these inner ear hassles. Migraine (MAV) can most definitley cause it as well. Anxiety may also contribute to making it seem louder and worse. I had tinnitus not long after the VN attack in 2003 for about 5 months and then it went ... only one ear.

interesting...my ENT said VN wouldn't cause tinnitus. Only Labs / Menieres could.

Re: Labyrinthitis and tinnitus?

I have not been diagnosed yet, am seeing ear nose and throat DR in 3 months.

I have the tinitis in left ear only, basically all the time now, and in perfect timing with pulse. For me it is quite quiet, in fact I do not notice it at times. Mine gets very loud just before I have a dizzy/balance spell, followed by nausea for the remainder of the day. Hearing comes and goes in left ear only but, never total loss of hearing.

Meneires and Labyrinthitus seem to be very similar in my research. Also Lyme disease has some similarities.
