Hi,
Nearly 4 months ago now I woke up feeling dizzy and had a jarring kind of headache. The doctor said I had viral labyrinthitis and it would probably be gone in 10 days.He put me on stemitil which didn't make alot of difference! Then a few days later I had a bad attack and felt drunk...I was so scared that I ended up in casualty but they found nothing. Then the dizzyness seemed to calm down and I was left with disturbed vision!I see like T.V static all the time. That I kind of got used to but now the dizzyness has returned and my ears ring at bedtime!I've been back to the doctors so many times that finally I demanded to see an eye specialist which unfortunately I had to pay for or wait 6 months!!He said my eyes are pefectly o.k but couldn't explain my vision problem.I was so worried that I have now just had a C.T scan and that was o.k too.Can you get this kind of visual disturbance with an inner ear virus??What do I do now because it is making my life a misery and I want to return to work...Is there anyone out there who has any answers or good advise for me?I would be so greatful....Thanks
Hello there. I was diagnosed with viral labyrinthitis in the summer of 1999. It scared me to death! I saw 5 different specialists to try to find out my condition. Finally after I saw just about every specialist I could think of, my neurologist told me that I had viral labyrinthitis. It took me about 1 1/2 years to get over this condition, along with the emotional scar. I would feel a sense of being disoriented. I could not sleep at night from the ringing in the ears, and I had some digestive problems.
I never had eye problems as severe as yours, although labrinthitis is a condition that makes your eyes and your brain signals not correspond to each other, you know not on the same wave length. Hope you are fine now.
Did either one of you start out with a viral infection that led to your labrinthitis??
I had a bad upper respiratory infection a little over two months ago and it has left me with all of the symptoms you describe to one degree or another.
I hope it doesn't take me a year or more to get over it. It's a bummer to say the least.
Debbie
P.S. My Doc says it's allergies and stress related.
Buddyrob,
you say you had the disoriented feeling? Did it go away eventually? I've been feeling lightheaded and spacey now for almost a month, 24/7. I have a CT Scan on Wednesday. Can they discover viral labrinthitis with a CT? It's so scarey!
Sincerely, Iceprincess
