heart pounding inside head/ears

Does anyone here experience the following: Sometimes out of the blue (not related to sitting/standing) I hear my heart beating in my head and on each 'beat' my hearing goes away. I take HBP medication that keep my blood pressure normal. I have posted on the HBP forum, but no one seems to experience this. Anyone here?

Re: heart pounding inside head/ears

this might be different to what you get, but I hear the sound of my heart beating in my left ear (i have a condition called patulous eustachian tube which causes all sorts of other problems as well)..with each beat it sounds like a whoosh..like the sound of the surf on a beach (but it goes completely in time with my heart beat if I've been running for example it will whoosh faster). I find it's much worse at night for some reason...or if I'm stressed out...some times it goes away for days at a time for no reason...sometimes I think it's gone completely and then it might come back and it can be so loud it can keep me awake at night. But to tell you the truth it doesn't bother me that much..I went to the doctors and he said it was just my pulse that I could hear and it was nothing to worry about...and I don't let it worry me because worrying makes it worse...and anyway, it's nothing compared to the other symptoms I get so I'm not too bothered about it. I have to say I don't go deaf when I hear each beat..perhaps you get the same as me but it's so loud that each beat drowns the other sounds out. Try to relax about it a little..I know it's hard, but give your body some help, it's dealing with this ****, don't give it stress to deal with as well, believe me it's taken me 4 years to work that one out..I used to sit up in bed when I first got the whooshing and scream out loud...and it made it throb even louder, now I relax and listen to it, I even count the beats some times if it's keeping me awake..talk to yourself, be kind to yourself, aja
