What do these VNG test results mean?

unilateral weakness 20%R Direct perpondurance 33%R

I tried searching online and all I see for this caloric test is that a finding of 20-30% on dir perdondence is significant, anyone that can help is appreciated.

Re: What do these VNG test results mean?

My VNG showed a 35% weakness in my right ear and my doctor said everything was "normal".. However, everyone else that looks at it says I have a inner ear problem after seeing the results. My physical therapist, the neuro doctor that specialized in hearing and balance... It's all so confusing.. My ENT keeps telling me everything looks normal" but everyone else says inner ear problem.. When I went for testing with the neuro specialist, they had scheduled me for another VNG but when she saw I had already had one, she said she didn't need to do another one since it clearly showed I have a inner ear problem.. (also if everything is normal, why did he send me to physical therapy?)

I understand your frustration, as what can be found through search engines concerning these test results state that a 20-30% Dir perponderance is SIGNIFICANT. Further when the neurologist performed this test with the results coming back she stated that she doesn't typically see these results except for in a much older person ( she also sent me for physical therapy which did absolutely nothing for me) As a side note. I do have torn herniated neck disc as well as mild spinal stenosis in neck 9mm and the disc is making contact with the spinal cord itself, but not compressing it, just touching it last we looked ( however that MRI is a still photo and its logical that the disc puts more pressure on the cord as my neck moves) further I have severe TMJ, so all things that could also contribute to the dizzy balance problem I have. I am in diligent search for a Doctor who is able to use logic, and reasoning according to the body and how it works as well as one who not only performs diagnostic billable tests, but follows through and if there is no treatment for me, so be it, but quit beating a dead horse. I am the dead horse now
