Fluctuating hearing loss and tinnitus

I am diagnosed with sudden onset hearing loss in left ear. Unfortunately, I did not start my prednisone treatment until day 14 after onset. This was because I was originally diagnosed with fluid behind eardrum. Anyway...

After two days of the Prednisone, I started to feel an improvement. On day 3 I had an almost normal hearing day with no distortion and no tinnitus, until the evening, when the tinnitus kicked in. I hardly slept at all. Now it's day 4 and the tinnitus is not stopping. My question is, is this normal to have such drastic fluctuations in symptoms? It is a good sign or bad. The anxiety of not knowing what to expect each day is stressing me.
