| Re: Tinnitus during and now after ear infection
I had a bad ear infection when I was 8 years old and after the antibiotics were completed and the ear infection gone, I noticed I had ringing in my ears. I went to my then pediatrician, and he of course did not "see" anything wrong with my ears and being a child, I wonder if he even believed me. I am now 34 years old and I have had constant bilateral ringing since, 24/7. That is 26 years of annoying ringing and sometimes it gets worse, but if I try to get my mind off of it, the ringing goes back to the "normal" tone. I also hear a clicking/popping sound every single time I swallow. Fortunately, my hearing is excellent but if the ringing just decreased, I would be in heaven!!
During Chiropratic school, my anatomy professor informed me that in the 80s there was an antibiotic that had a side effect of tinnitus (don't recall the name) so I am sure that the antibiotic did this to me, as my ears were 100% normal before. I have never tried any herbal remedies and ANYTHING anyone has to recommend would be appreciated.
I have lived with it for 26 of my 34 years, so I can continue to live with it, but I will be first in line for a fail-safe treatment!
