Room spinning

I am not new to the Healthboards I am acutally a senior member.
I am new to the dizziness though. .I open my eyes and it feels like the room is spinning. It feels like I am hung over from the night before which is not the case. It only lasts a few minutes. I get up slowly and I am okay and I go on with my day. Is this vertigo? I don't have the spinning when i am up and walking around it is just upon awakening. I don't get it every day, it has only happened a few times but it happened this morning. Any suggestions? thank you. bride527

Re: Room spinning

Probably BPPV (Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo), but you should definitely go see an ENT to get diagnosed. My brother in law has BPPV and if he sleeps on one side (can't remember which one), he gets very dizzy in the mornings (or whenever he does it). Good luck!
