I have been having persistent nausea and dizziness and occasional, short lived vertigo for about 9-10 months. My gait also seems off and my tintinitus is constant.
I have had an MRI which ruled out an acoustic neuroma and I guess stroke. I also had a VNG, which showed some loss of function...whatever that means. I have gone through a course of vestibular physical therapy.
I am now taking meclizene for the nausea and xanax to try to slow the inpulses from my inner ear to my eyes.
I am almost 65 and until this past year have never had any motion sickness, now I have it riding as well as driving. I also have a very difficult time in big spaces, especially with lots of people and noise...grocery store, mall etc. And fatigue after doing very little.
I found an article about problems with vestibular ocular reflex (VOR). One suggestion was to change from multivision lenses to single vision lenses. Spoke with my eye doctor and we have set an appointment for next month. Since I had just started on the xanax I wanted to see if it was going to help...so far I am not seeing improvement but It has just been slightly over a week. The eye doctor said I did have cataracts, but when last checked in October they did not appear to be problematic, she is going to check with the surgeons and other doctors in her practice for some input.
One thing she mentioned was prisms in my glasses, does anybody know about them? How do they make you appear etc.
I am really getting disgusted with the way this dizziness/nausea/etc it taking over my life.
