About a year ago I started losing hearing in my left ear - little things at first, whispers, missing words etc - it blossomed to the point where I was mixing up and mishearing words , barely catching conversations at all - around SIX months ago I started having dizziness, lightheadedness and what seems to be known as "brain fog" I knock things over, trip on stuff, bang into anything thats around to be banged into, stub toes, you get the picture. I saw a hearing & balance specialist who verified my hearing loss as well as did VNG/ENG testing. Results came back and my doctor called me saying that my brain is only getting about 40 percent of signal from my left ear and the other side is compensating, causing the issues. I had to press him for a cause and he said it was generally caused by something viral. He then said he would be putting me on a medication that should help balance me out. He is a very renowned Dr in the field but I have to say he left me hanging on information! What is this? Labrynthitis? BVVP? VT? Will it continue? Will I have it again? Is it forever? Will the meds control it, correct it, or just stop it? I know I need to ask him these questions but he is extremely difficult to get in touch with. Anyone else gone through this or going through, with words of advice would be greatly appreciated!
