| | Balance issues, vestibular problems, BPPV
Hey everyone, I'm new to this forum, but I've decided to finally tell my story and I hope it helps anyone in some way.
So it all started in January 2013. I, like the rest of the country, got sick with that horrible flu. Even before that I was feeling off. Anyway, I had two vertigo spells (room spinning) back to back. Then after, everytime I would walk, it felt as if I was on a boat, and my vision was swaying intensely for side to side. It made me feel nauseous sometimes. One day in February it got so bad that I went to the emergency. That doctor told me it was BPPV. So I did my research, did the epley maneuver at home, then started the brandt daroff excercises to help the compensation process. It helped a bit, at least with the imbalance and unsteadiness of walking. Still felt lightheaded sometimes.
I did brandt daroff, everyday, twice a day, for the whole month of March, to see if it would help me indefinitely. Well now in April, I've stopped and I feel like I'm back at square one, and my head feels like a bowl of jello.
Things I've tried:
-betahistimine (helped sometimes)
-brandt daroff excercises (helped a lot when done everyday)
-massage therapy, to see if it's tension (felt amazing the next day, then ****** again the next)
Here's the dinger. I was referred to an ear specialist and he told me that I do t have BPPV, and he doesn't think it's a problem with my ear.
I disagree. Other symptoms include: clear fluid coming out of ear, ear was inflammed for a couple days, itchy as hell.
So, I'm going to see my doctor again, thi Wednesday to either refer me to another specialist, or a neurologist, or SOMETHING.
Googled, ask doc, specialist, no one can figure it out.
