ive had a cronic fungal ear infection for 5 months, otis media,, antibiotics made it worse, ive gone through 3 types of ear drops, none worked, 3 doctors and 1 specialist later im getting ichthmmol ear-wicks every 3 days, it keeps the sympyoms at bay, but its no cure, anybody got any answers?
Hi, in the ear canal there is a delicate balance of bacteria and fungus so when antibiotics including antibacterial ear drops are applied the fungus starts to grow out of control. Never get your ear flushed out, it is the worse thing you can do. Sometimes the doctor can aspirate the fungus out to give you relief or sometimes they can pack your ear with antifungul. Was the specialist you went to an ear nose and throat doctor?
yeah ent specialist! he said get the ear flushed out! getting it syringed every week, then ear wicked, the first time a plug of wax and dead skin came out about 3-4cm long, the itch drives me mad, the right ears cleared up now
I had an ear infection 3 months ago and was left with fluid in the ear. It was drained out a couple months after the infection. I couldn't get the first ent to do anything. She kept saying these things take time. Would just give me that worthless flonase which was a waste of money. Finally got an appointment with another ent who did drain my ear. The problem is that I am not hearing any better than before it was drained with the ear infection. Could I have a fungal infection as well? How can an ent tell if you have a fungus in the ear? You are talking about the fungus in the middle ear behind the eardrum correct? What are the symptoms of a fungus?
hi ,nah, mine was inner&middle ear, the symptoms included a clear lymph-like fluid/puss , a constant itch, loss of hearing,, it started just after australia day january26 , it has finally started to ease now(after 9months) only get the ichthmmol done once every two weeks now, your ent specialist should know if its a fungal dermatitis, the itch is caused by dead skin, get your ear flushed "just go to a normal doctor" you will see the dead skin, its black/brown, and it will be fused with the earwax,.. ask about a "ear grommit" also, your infection may have caused permanant hearing loss, my advice to you is keep doctor-shopping till you find a good one! ..im on my 3rd regular GP, the first 2 couldnt have cared less,..
