hmmm... sounds like what i went through and ended up in hosp with a diagnosis of menieres disease. i wear a med alert bracelet and have valium and zofran for when i get an episode. also am on a no salt, no caffeine, no alcohol, no chocolate diet which seems to help. read the books written by "menieres man" and see is you can relate to his symptons. play around with your diet and go to as many ent docs as possible until you are satisfied with a diagnosis. also get an mri to rule out other causes. menieres has no cause and no cure but you do learn to adjust if this is what you have. good luck!

Re: Pleasepleasehelp

Have you had an MRI or Caloric test (ice water test) for Meniere's? Have you tried over the counter meclizine or dramamine that is used for motion sickness? Have you seen an ENT Dr? Do you have allergies that might be causing some of the ear pressure? Inner ear causes vertigo and ringing. That may respond to meclizine OTC taken regularly, 3 X a day. The pressure in ears may be from allergies and fluid congestion. A different antihistamine, like fexofenadine 180mg OTC, 1 X a day should help. Lastly, a decongestant like psuedoephedrine may help the middle ear. All can be taken together, but is needed on a regular basis for several days/weeks to work. It usually helps some right away, but but will help increasingly over a week, and will need to be continued possibly through your trip. I hope that helps you now, but in meantime, please see an ENT specialist to see what the cause is. Your pharmacist can help you find nthese quickly and easily.

Re: Pleasepleasehelp

I don't think it's Ménière's disease as I don't vomit and don't have vertigo. It's just a constant off balance feeling. Also before this episode my ears have never been affected
ears have never been affected just my eyes and lots and lots of head pressure

Re: Pleasepleasehelp

You really need to have an MRI of brain, which will also show if there is anything wrong with the acoustic nerve to the inner ear. You can have Meniere's without vomiting. You said you were "spinning" which is vertigo. So I'm a little confused. You can have both vertigo and feeling off balance with many things, including inner ear dysfunction. It is worth trying the meds for relief until you can get an MRI done.

Re: Pleasepleasehelp

Hey, hang in there!!! I know exactly how you feel. I was diagnosed with Vestibular Neuritis and my life has been on hold since April 2013. It's exhausting, infuriating, depressing, and just crappy! But I have found hope here on these boards, knowing I am not alone. You are not alone. I know you feel out of control--I have two kids that need me and I've been a zombie, but this problem will get better for all of us on this board. It's just a slow, slow, slow process, but it's not our reality for the rest of our lives. I refuse to believe that. There are options for us to get the help we need. Get in to see an ENT as soon as humanly possible to find out exactly what is going on. This is a rotten hand to be dealt, I totally get it, and I know you are sick and tired of it (we all are!), but you have to hang in there. We are pulling for you and again, please know you ae not suffering alone. There is light at the end of this dark and dizzy tunnel...
