My urologist has been giving me tests because I have not UTI, but still hurt when I pee and also, when I am not. My lower abdomen hurts also. It is not my female parts, because I had most of them out about 8 mo. ago.
Can any of you tell me what Interstitial Cystitis (sp) feels like and how yours was diagnosed? The test that would show if I had this, costs about $3,000. and I have a $5,000. deductible. So, I would have to pay it all.
I just want to be more sure, before I have this test and pay all that money. I have not UTI, but do have scars on my bladder. The test is a ? with video and dye and has to be done at a bigger outpatient hospital. There are only 2 of these machines in the Houston area!
Please let me know if any of you have this or have knowledge of this.
I had the cystoscopy with hydrodistention done 4 years ago when I was 20, but I've had IC a long time.
My bladder hurts before I void, during, and after.

Please do a search on Interstitial Cystitis. There is a lot of great information out there, as well as websites dedicated to IC that have a lot of info on diagnosis, symptoms, and treatments.
The dosage that is recommended now is 400 mg. a day, like you are on. They are finding that the 300mg. dosage is not as effective.
I do not think Elmiron would have had any part in your cancer. Elmiron has the properties of a blood thinner, so I do not think it would have caused a tumor.
Your tumor may have been there for some time without causing symptoms. It could be a long-term result of smoking.
