I noticed that a thread on this issue was closed, so I thought I would open another one. I believe there is a connection between the two. I was diagnosed with IC via cystoscopy in June this year. My IC started 5 years ago following a genuine UTI infection that responded to antibiotics. I thought that was the end of my problems until I had another bout of what I thought was UTI. However, this did not respond to antibiotics and lasted many weeks until it spontaneously cleared up.

On to about a year later and back comes the urinary urge and frequency which led to the removal of my IUD followed on by trans vaginal ultrasounds and various other medical tests. All of these came back negative and left the doctors scratching their heads in confusion. I subsequently had many flares which were distressing and frustrating.

Eventually I was refered to a urologist who specialised in IC and based on my past history and symptoms, recognised it immediately. This led to my cystoscopy which confirmed her suspicions.

To this day, I believe it was the initial UTI that set this whole thing in motion.
