britches: alot of things can trigger ibs...i'm not 100% sure..but i could swear the salmonella poisioning i had this past may....plus the prescriptionj drug Lipitor(to lower my cholesteral) brought on my current iBs. My digestive system has not been the same since this terrible salmonella poisioning i got from a Deli-egg salad sandwich...I think these bacterias from viruses and poisionings....sometimes take a long time to lea ve..I am now taking Acidophillus supplement...which also can be taken by children(read the label...I take the Walgreen's brand)...This helps get the good bacteria back into your system . My symptoms not not include nausea....I have more symptoms like...gas, gurgling, and alternate diarreah and constipation. Hoping he feels better soon. Good luck.
