IBS can change your heart beat - in my opinion - I think that it is also possible for the heart to stop pumping too - at least I think that's what I've been suffering through for the past couple of days. I can feel a strong pain in my chest - radiating through my left arm and it causes me some suffocating feeling.

In your case - unless you break out in a sweat, have pains radiating down your left arm and suffer from dizziness/suffocation - I doubt it is heart pain. Usually, in this case it is just an acid problem - Acid problems can cause you to feel pain in your back - even sometimes like nerves in your back are being pulled.

Nevertheless, I have an uncle who once suffered from heart pain and he realized that it may be more than that - Well he rushed to the hospital and they diagnosed him as having heart disease and having had a minor heart attack - mostly from 20 years of not doing any exercise whatsoever. He couldn't walk three blocks up the street without panting for breath - and he wasn't fat - just never took up any exercise, because he never thought he could get a heart attack. The most exercise he had for 20 years was picking up the occasional computer dropping it in the trunk of his car and taking it out for work purposes.

If you have stabbing pains in the V of your chest - it could be gas. However, if you suffer from both that and pain in the right side of your rib cage - it could be your gall bladder acting up - I used to suffer from that prior to developing full blown IBS. It does usually occur right after a heavy/fatty meal. (Bile - realeased by the gall bladder is supposed to help digest fat/ smoothen the digestion process as a laxative). I suffered from constipation all the time - so I actually managed to save myself by taking quarter of bile salts pills to help augment what the gall bladder was doing. It gave me a lot of relief. (Don't do this yourself though - bile salts can produce diarrhea, if you use it improperly).

Well, I hope you are able to find a way around your trouble: One suggestion that Harry usually makes for gas is to try and take active yogourt/acidophilus caps - if you aren't already doing that.
