Help......

I recently have had some pretty bad stomach aches and diarrhea. I noticed that i started to get these problems after three days of drinking and parting. Can over drinking cause these symptoms or can this be a sign of something else like IBS.

I was wondering if somebody can tell me what IBS really is. I went to the doctor a couple of days ago and she gave me a medicine by the name of Protonix. It started to help me but the pains have come back. The Doctor said, to continue to take it until the stomach gets better, but it seems like its not really helping.

Has anybody heard of Protonix and can you have any side affects with this med. like back pains, and chest pains....

Thanks alot.....

Re: Help......

Protonix is a time released Proton Pump Inhibitor -- meaning it reduces the acid that is secreted by cells that pump the acid into your stomach. It is usually given for 8 weeks and the reduced stomach acid is suppose to help your stomach irritation and esophagus heal.

Harry......thanks for the info.

I was wondering, so its possible that I might have to take Protonix for 8 weeks to get better? I also wanted to know if drinking caused this problem or even bad food. I also wanted to know what the best foods would be to eat during this time?

Thanks....alot

Re: Help......

As you may know drinking alcohol does not help your stomach in any way.It also depletes your system of vital minerals needed for good health.

It depend what you think bad food is??? Some people are more sensitive than others to foods that irritate your stomach but foods like fried food, spicey, coffee, sodas or sugary foods cause the stomach to produce more acid and are not good for your problem!!

The best foods are the things that are easy to digest like yogurt, kefir, rice, oatmeal, chicken & turkey. Just the more bland type foods. Red meat is just more difficult to digest.
