Foods to stay far from IBS?? zelnorm?
Hi, I was recently diagnosed with IBS, and my doc says that I could go the easy (though rather expensive) way to cure it "Zelnorm." I have a little different case here, but I was wondering what foods to stay away from. Any examples? I have endometriosis with fatigue syndrome, and am on multiple meds after a full hysterectomy, so I am trying to stay away from costly meds. But also if anyone has taken Zelnorm, how do you like it??

I took zelnorm and it did seem to help with constipation because it gave me diarreah for an hour or more after I took it. It doesn't seem to help at all now. But you are only suppose to take it for up to 12 weeks. Hope this helps.

My Doctor told me vegtables and stress in a lot of cases are what causes / sets off a persons IBS but I also think that it is different with most people

Hi,

I tried Zelnorm for constipation. I was on it for 2 weeks and nothing had happened yet. I went back to my doctor and he took me off it and put me on liquid laxatives and enemas. That's what I've been doing ever since. As far as the foods to avoid, it's basically trial and error. If you eat something and if almost immediately your stomach starts to hurt, write it down. The only problem with that is, it may hurt one time and not the next time. IBS is complicated.
