my dd who is 12 has ibs and is very crampy all the time. is there any meds or otc treatment we could try?

Hi,

Peppermint tea is a big help believe it or not. I don't know if it's the peppermint or just the soothing warm caffine free drink. My only other suggestion is a heating pad. I don't know anything about the rx's out there because I've not used any for the cramping. There's something in peppermint that makes it have a numbing action. If you've ever eaten it fresh picked it can actually numb your tongue. Hope this helps.

my doctor has put me on Spasmonol, to stop the bowel cramping up...

mine too!! this stuff is really great!! for OTC stuff, try Mylanta Gas, believe it or not, two of those little pills really help the pressure and cramping!
