Does anyone have...

Does anyone have a long (or short)period of remission? If so how did you get there? What helped? What works to keep you in remission? Thanks for your help.

Love,

Jamie

Re: Does anyone have...

Hi Jamie
I'm new to this board, but I can tell you I went into remission with this for about two months, but now it's back just as strong as before. The only thing that I can figure is I wasn't as stressed out about things durring that time. When mine started up again my dad had a car wreak and my husbands uncle passed away. Not stressing is the only thing I know of that I done any differently. I know this probably isn't very helpfull because I stress over everything.
Thanks, worriedfemale29

Re: Does anyone have...

Hi princesspea,

I've had a long period of remission now except for the fatigue. Although, I may not count, because my remission comes through the use of visualisation techniques which I've invented on my own. You may occasionally see my techniques posted on the board.

Cheers, Raju.

Re: Does anyone have...

I find that my IBS changes a lot. I'll go two weeks straight being okay, then I'll go two or three weeks with diarrhea/loose stools every movement. I'll go for two weeks having a movement first thing in the morning only like clockwork, then I'll go two weeks having to go in the afternoon only. My longest "remission" period was last spring. I had just gone through a really bad time - in addition to stomach pain and diarrhea, for about three weeks I had constant nausea, no appetite, weight loss of about 10lbs, constant fatigue and weakness. Then it lifted and I was okay for about two or three months. But then I went back to cycles of bad and good. It sucks because we all know stress makes it worse, but a lot of the stress I experience is from the condition itself. Who wouldn't be stressed about the fear of having an accident in public?

I agree with the idea of visualization techniques. My drive to work is about 1/2 an hour, which can be an eternity when my stomach is hurting. A simple trick that usually works for me: I try to focus on anything green - street signs, cars, traffic lights, etc. As we drive along, I focus my energy on finding and staring at green things. By the way, I am the passenger - I don't recommend doing this if you are the driver!

Take care,
Georgette

Re: Does anyone have...

Thanks everybody for giving me some hope. I am not having any trouble right now but I don't concider it a remission because I feel like I'm right on the egde of having an attack at any time.

Worried Female: I have very little stress in my life thankfully. We are coming up on a move soon(to another state) and I'm scared to death! Thanks for your response.

Raju: Hi. I look forward to watching your posts about you meditation technics. That will be interesting to me. I like meditation and only know a very crude form of it.

Georgette: I LOL at you I'm a passager thing! I promise I won't do it if I'm driving. I am actually a C not a D. On my meds and with my fiber every once in a while I have an emergency! I can only imagine what you go through trapped in a car for 1/2 an hour. I agree that allot of my stress is just the illness. I really don't have much other stress in my life other than illness.

Thank you every body!

Love,

Jamie
