I have Gas/Severe Bloating ALL THE TIME...please reply..fed up! - Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) Message Board

Hello!
I have tried EVERYTHING to get rid of my gas. I have it everyday almost all day no matter what. I have tried fasting and even then I Still get gas!! I have tried antispazmatics from my doctor, bentyl, levbid, hyocymamine, zelnorm gave me diarreah even after 4 months, I have had an upper and lower endoscopy and everything is fine physically. I have tried practically every over the counter herbs even this disgusting chinese tea that GUARANTEED to cure IBS! (guess I am an anomolie) I have cut out carbonated beverages, I take Fiber (citracel, that doesnt cause gas) daily. I am so fed up, I am so severly bloated I just don't want to do anything. My doc says it is colonic gas (lower abdominal) and it is hard to treat. GAS X only helps gas that is in the uperr adbomen.
Any suggestions? Any miracle herbs or drugs I should know about?

I'm going to try drinking tea or something. I don't know, I'm at the same frustrated point that you are at. The gas I get is down so low that I'll chew a whole lot of gas relief tablets and they still won't do a thing. I've tried lying flat on my stomach on a hard floor, b/c sometimes the pressure allows me to pass at least some of the pressure, but I'm having a SERIOUS attack and I can't get relief. I've been in bad pain for about 2 days now, and I don't know what to do.

On another note, last night I woke up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom just to pee, but felt the urge to *go*. Kinda gross, but all that came out was mucus. It scared me a bit...but I think I'm just so backed up and so gassy, and I was half asleep, so I just went back to bed. Any ideas what on earth this could be??

I've been taking Zelnorm as prescribed since my colonoscopy in November. I take 3 a day, and although it usually gets me going, I haven't gone since last Wednesday (Today's Sunday). What am I going to do? I can't even sit down comfortably!

Bloating caused by gas many times is caused by the friendly bacteria in your Intestines being out of balance and produces gas because you are not digesting your food properly.

Eating a good brand of yogurt several times daily helps along with taking a probiotic supplement twice daily to help re-establish your friendly bacteria.
The yogurt that I like and Use is Stonyfield Farm and Brown Cow from a health food store. The probiotics I use is PB-8 and Pearls put out by Ezymatic Therapy.

Friendly bacteria can get out of balance for many reasons --- a round of antibiotics, too much spicy food, too much sugar or salty snacks, too much fried food just to name a few!!

Harry is right. Changing your diet is what worked for me. I cannot eat any kind of wheat, white, or sourdough bread. However, I can eat granola, rice bread, white rice, brown rice, etc. I also, get gas and bloating with sugary snacks. I wish there was a miracle pill too, however I think it is best for you to get your symptoms under control, and then introduce new foods gradually to see what you can handle.
