Stomach and Bowel problems..very depressed - Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) Message Board

Hello I'm Marie (new member), Ive been having many problems with my stomach and bowels for many years. Ive been told i have IBS... and Fibromyalgia. The past few months these have been my symptoms.... GAS and rumbling in stomach...and bowels...(all the time) burning and pain right in the middle of my stomach area...like right under my breast bone. acid refulx even though i have been on nexium....then switched to Zegerid...(which worked better) and now swtiched to Prevacid... at times i get constipated... then i also get boughts of diahrrea..and then i will be normal..(crazy) the gas pains cause me to cramp in my intestines... So...ive been to a gastro doctor...I cant get my stomach scoped until august 9th (because i have crappy insurance) so my regular doctor wants me to get a upper GI done and a abdominal ultrsound first... which will be done June 23rd. I had blood work done last week... because back two weeks ago i had so much stomach pain i went into emergancy...all they did was run tests...and give me this crap to drink to numb my stomach...which worked for maybe 2 hours....but didnt tell me that the bloodwork showed...my white blood count was up...and my pancraes enzymes were up very bad. My regular doctor thinks i had pancreitous (sp)..and i was on an antibiotic for a week...well my new resent blood work says my blood count and pranceas are back to normal....BUT my liver count is up some....so thats why he wants me to get the upper GI and a abdominal ultrasound done.Im going crazy here....

When i get the scope done for my stomach ,im sure they will also test me for the H. Pylori bacteria...now i can barely eat anything...no spicy foods...or fatty foods...no dairy...and only drink water... Ive been doing this for about a month now and have lost 13 lbs. My doctor thinks i possibly have an ulcer... so i guess i have to wait and see if the upper GI will help show that...or if i have to wait for the stomach scope to be done. When i had the pain really bad in my stomache( which is a tad better now) it felt like i was having a heart attack.... and sometimes i also feel weak... and very very tired....Im sure some due to being worry sick....and not sleeping well because of all this.. I dont have anyone here where i live to talk to about this... my mom lives out of state...and most of my family here....i really dont talk to much and even if i did... they probably wouldnt care. I decided to join this webboard to maybe have people to talk to.... I get very depressed.....because i dont feel good and dont go out much...plus not being able to eat good foods really sucks! Anyways......I hope my symptoms...and my rambling on helps anyone in some way...please email at [ please carefully review the posting rules - no emails ] or respond if you have simular problems...or any ideas what my problem is. Thanks P.S..has anyone had stomach or bowels problems caused by taking nexium...or previcid? like extreme gas?

Im sorry you're so sick and in pain but I can so indentify with you which is why I felt compeled to respond. I am going through almost the exact same thing you are except the elevated white count etc etc.. I don't have my liver test results yet...your post sounded almost as if I was writting it...I too have had stomach problems for atleast 9 years now and was too afraid to go have it looked at until recently due to feeling so aweful sick the last few months now.. I also have chronic lyme disease and fibro ontop of it all... My other symptoms are also difficulty swallowing for the last 3 yrs and the other day my new doctor took an xray of my stomach and said he's almost sure I have a hiatal hernia.. He also said IBS which is no surprise as i've been given this diagnosis a million and one times over the years i've just never experienced as badly as the last 8 months.
I too ended up in the ER 3 yrs ago one morning by ambulance due to horrific pain in my upper middle abdomen along with massive heart burn which is when all these issue's got worse for me. At that time they took a ct scan and said it showed nothing and sent me home with an acid blocker..
Since finding my new doctor a few months ago I've been on protonix daily which seems to be the only acid blocker that agree's with me as well helps sort of but not fully...As for the IBS, I usually will have constipation and then suddenly I'll have bowel movements for 3 days numerous times a day and then boom, nothing.. Won't even be able to pass wind and it's very painful.
I also have experienced the weakness and nausea that go along with this and the crushing fatigue but like you I never know if it's due to my IBS stomach issue's or my underlying conditions..The last month and a half though I have had pelvic pain along with low low back pain seems to correlate with my bowel movements so Im not sure whats happening.. I can tell you though I am truley scared to death you see I lost my mom in 1999 to pancreatic cancer and it seems all these symptoms are the same for that as alot of other things...So I have been trying to keep my anxiety under control which hasnt' been easy and the depression set in a few days ago but I am trying not to flip out... I hope you're doing better today and I hope my words have somehow made you feel a little better knowing you're not alone... Please keep in touch...
