| Re: Digestive Advantage IBS
I'm constantly experimenting with diarrhea remedies for my IBS-D - I also have a colostomy which is not a good combination! Imodium causes my small bowel to stop working completely, wheat bran also plugs me up and sends me to ER with a blockage, yogurt helps reduce the odour as does chlorophyll tablets and calcium does nothing. My most recent experiment is with apple pectin tablets as eating applesauce and foods with pectin or gelatin have been helpful (but aren't the most convenient when traveling). I've started off with one in the morning and I do get a noticeable thickening effect. I'm going to try a second one later in the day this week to see if I get even more relief. The best dietary change to make is to avoid processed sugar - for me too much sugar increases gas and diarrhea. Has anyone else tried pectin?
