It never seems like I can just have one bowel movement a day. Often times when I urinate, I end up having a bowel movement as well, where just a little bit comes out. I don't know if this is caused by stress or what. Sometimes, it's diarrhea and other times the stool is loose. I don't have cramping or pain very much but was wondering why I have so many bowel movements. I think I eat enough fiber. What exactly is a "normal" type of bowel movement? Is it just going once a day and having the stool be dark brown and firm? Is there something wrong with me? Any advice would be appreciated, thanks!
This happens to my husband. He has to go to the bathroom about 20min. after he eats and before bedtime. He has no pain. This is normal for him. When I was younger I would have a BM about once every 3 days. At that time it was normal for me. As long as you feel good don't worry about it. But if it bother you, try to pay attention if certain foods make it worse. IBS comes with alot of pain.
I do the same thing, one large bowel movement in the morning, then a couple of little ones by early afternoon. Sometimes it is brought on by eating a big meal. If you have no pain, it's probably normal for you, but if stool is discolored (especially too dark) you might want to have it checked by a doctor.
