| Re: Recipes for IBS sufferers
Hi Desi,
We have multiple food intolerances in our family ... several of us are intolerant of gluten + dairy + egg. One great resource I can recommend is to check VEGAN cookbooks for luscious dairy & egg-free dishes. Then, if you are into meat or fish, you can also pop something onto the grill as well.
Rice & soy milk work just fine in most baked goods. There are commercial egg-replacers available for baking, or you can learn to do the flax-goop stuff for cakes & other baked goods that call for egg. You can make creams from nuts with a high-quality blender, and use these to replace cow cream in some dishes like casseroles. I LOVE curries made with home-made coconut cream. They are even better than regular curry.
The social thing can be tough. But it is possible to eat beforehand, go join the group, nurse a beverage while they eat, & just join in, enjoy the socializing. We do this a lot. There may be a question or two at first, but the accommodations can be made.
In addition to being GF, DF, and EF, my college-age DD must be corn, yeast, and sulfite-free. She still has many food choices to enjoy.
Best wishes.
