CT scan, pain in lower right side - Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) Message Board

Hi. I have been having a dull pain in my lower right side for almost four months, the worst being since mid december. Dr. first said IBS...pain got worse, scheduled CT scan...scan showed normal, Now wants to send me for upper/lower GI series. My question is, do these show more than a CT scan do? I thought the worst possible things, i.e., bleeding, toumours, etc would show up. Now I am worried. Originaly Dr. said something about Duodenum...then found out that this is shown durig CT scan. Is this constant dull pain a part of IBS? It seems stress triggers it right away...Please help!!

I have had pain in my lower left side for about three to four years now. I also have a slight bulge in the same spot which seems to gurgle just before I have diarrhea. I have had ultrasounds, a barium swallow, a colonoscopy and a CT scan, and none of these tests have shown what it is. One doctor says it might be a hernia, another doctor says that it isn't. Right now I'm scheduled for a pelvic ultrasound around my ovulation, because that's when it hurts the most, so hopefully it will reveal something.

i have constant dull aches most of the time, that is when i am not in bad pain, i too was worried about the pain always being there, but i am sure this is all part of it, i have had lots of tests done, and up to now all have come back normal, on another post i have replied to a new pain to me in, which is under the ribs, which i have also been told is the result of IBS, more tests next week to confirm this, this is an awful thing to have, has your life is turned up side down, as well as making you so depressed, in constant pain is no fun, so i know how you are feeling,

I've had pain under my ribs, in my flank and lower back on the right for over a year. Had CT scan, lots of blood work, two ultrasounds. Doc says it's probably IBS. How can something that so many people have cause so many problems. I even have joint pain. I'm also exhausted a lot and depressed (how can you not be when you are in pain so often).

Anyway, just wanted to let you know that I have a lot of the same problems, oh along with diarrhea almost every day. And I guess I'm not going to die, or so they say!!

Isn't it hard to accept that they are all convinced you aren't going to die when you're having so many problems??? I think we all know it's true but it's hard to hear sometimes (though WONDERFUL!!!!). I got diagnosed with IBS also and it can be a royal pain in the rear (pardon the pun). I have achy pain when it's flaring up also...the whole diarrhea/constipation thing too...but I'm working hard on diet and exercise and it does help.
