| Re: Just Diagosed - Please help
Dairy is one of the most common aggrevators for IBS and is a very common cause for constipation and large, painful movements. So you may want to try illiminating it for a few weeks just to see if there is a difference. You have to get it totally out of your system before you can make any judgment on whether it's a problem. The instant coffee could be an issue if you're sensitive to a chemical in it or something. Preservatives are also a common problem. So you may want to try avoiding them whenever possible.
Other things you can try cutting out: citrus, wheat/gluten, egg, and any foods that you know will make you gassy.
Some other things you can try: eat lots of fruit (but not watermelon), lots of cooked veggies, whole grains (though you may want to illiminate them for a while at some point as they can be a problem for some too), drink lots and lots and lots of water, drink only warm or hot liquids - cold ones can upset the gut, avoid fast foods, but make sure to get enough healthy oils like olive oil, etc. in your diet. You can also stick to frequent small meals instead of three large ones. Sometimes just a high volume of food can be a problem.
But basically the best thing you can do is see a nutritionist. They can walk you through some steps to get your diet customized to your needs. It's basically a lot of trial and error, but they can really help lead you in the right direction.
