IBS? Need to Know - Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) Message Board

So here is what's happening. A few weeks ago I was constipated. A few days after the constipation started, it went away. My stools then became softer for a few days. Then I became constipated again. After a few days of constipation my stools became normal again. This has been a continuing cycle. I have also noticed that I have had stomach pain. It feels like I have gas pockets, so I just blew it off as gas pain, but it seems to be happing at least once a day. I have also noticed that I have had more gas then normal. I was just wondering if these were signs of IBS? Someone I worked with had symptoms similiar to this and she was told she had IBS. I just wanted to check. It is so hard to get a doctor's appointment these days.

It's best to see your doctor for a diagnosis. Most folks only come to a dx of IBS after many other problems are ruled out. If you have a regular doc who knows you and your history, he may be able to assess your problem based on the symptoms you described.
