I've suspected for a while now, but was just officially diagnosed with IBS today. I now have a long list of things to avoid eating. Although I have been avoiding many of the items on the list due to reflux, I am struggling to balance my diet. In addition, I had reflux surgery a month ago and I am still limited to a liquid or soft diet with no bread or meat for the next few months. It is really difficult to eat the recommended high fiber diet right now since I can't eat the bread or cereals.
I would appreciate any suggestions for things that are OK to eat or that you find work for you.
I have found that I can eat all of the things that I ate before, but now I have to eat them in moderation.
I understand your difficulty about eating the fiber. Even though I can eat the breads and cereals, I can't eat as much in the day as I used to. I use a fiber supplement that I mix in my drinks to help me get the fiber that I need.
Well, from what I have learned...everyone is different. One person might be OK with eating an apple or beef while another may be intolerant to them. I took a blood test to see what foods were giving me problems and my IBS left about 6 weeks after removing them from my diet. I also took supplement's that helped take away the inflammation/acid bothering me in my gut and throat. I used the Thinkrite system. I only have reoccurring problems now when I go back to the foods that I had previously removed.
