hi
You might like to consider Celiac disease also have you had any blood tests done like B12 esp if you have gastritis....Gluten can really play havoc if you have a problem with it

I have done research on that too but the doctor didn't give me a blood test for that I don't think, also I'm Lactose Intolerant.I don't know if Celiac Disease would make me severely constipated though,I definately have that. This has been going on for the past 5 years,I went too 2 different doctors already and they are expensive as hell! Thanks for replying to me though!

I found out I not only had celiacs but I also found out other foods were causing problems in my intestine as well. I really had no idea about the wheat part but I did suspect I was having problems with other foods. I went on the ThinkRite program and used their blood test. 6 weeks later my IBS as well as fatigue was gone. I was constantly anxous too and that is also going away now.

Hi There

If you are Lactose intoerant the chances of you being celiac are very high. A lot of celiacs have a intolerance to lactose once going gluten free for a while the lactose can be reintroduced slowly rather successfully.......

Celiac is a funny thing if you have it as a child the symptoms seem to cahnge throught your life at least this has been docummented for some.........

Constipation is common in celiac not just loose bowels there are a lot of symptoms and even if you have mild damage bloods won't necessarily pick it up so it is tricky even doing biopsies the damage is not always consistent so it depends were they take the samples......... one can have loose stools constipation, pale stools, bulky stools, greasy stools....(I had them all) they can be super smelly because of sterrohea ,,lots of gas and it is smelly (when I first realized about gluten I went through a lot of denile and I would eat it and because with me I don't react straight away I thought I didn't have that but it would soon catch up with me a major thing was very smelly gas (sorry to be graphic) my children would say "mum you have been eating gluten again". Ohhh they always keep me in checkLOL you can get joint pains, stomach pains, neasea heaps of things but you don't have to have all of them another common connection is gallstones.

Constipation is also a
symptom of B12 deficiency can be caused from celiac which happened to me one can be deficient in the following also VitD, Folate, & iron because they are absorbed in the gut I was deficent in all my ferritin was getting lower but not anemic.......

You could always try to go gluten free for a few months at least to see if you are better it shouldn't do any harm.........But you need to be very pedantic about not having any not even a crumb.......

I would strongly recommend having some blood tests and also do some research on gluten to find out more......I am in no way saying this is a fact but the bipolar may be connected in there somewhere......

I wish you luck

Re: I hope to find some answers with this please!

Awe thank you for the reply,I am going to try to seek some more help from the doctor with my stomach issue. I can't believe that the specialist didn't give me that test before,it amazes me how the healthcare is today. I read ALOT on IBS and all the other digestive dissorders,it's incredible. More people in America are becomming this way too,it boggles my mind. Do you feel any better from changing your diet? How long did it take for you to find out that you had this disease? It doesn't run in my family, but stomach problems sure do.

Hi
It took me around over 5 years at least that is how long I have been reall ill but have had little things with my tummy since I was little a nervous tum my mum would say also got terriblr growing pains I would cry with the pain.....
I was in a state of denial & would do the diet then not but when I finally got the B12 deficiency which I am now feeling I have had for years & years and I was so sick I would loose my memory ramble on my husband couldnt make sense of what I was saying and he freaked out I was extremely anxious I though I have to do this......

I was always at the docs compalianing about my symptoms they would give me pain meds and heaps of scans ect....But only a gallstone showed up classic for celiacs I believe....One day my doc was on holidays and I was so ill that I seen a new doctor and that when they pick up my deficiencies.....Needless to say I went and seen my original doc who said she wouldnt have botheredto do the B12 cause it was fine 9 months ago (which it wasnt is was so low but normal) so I would be either dead or in a nursing home by now......It is just amazing so I encourage you to be persistant it pays of you know your body better than anyone......

I dont know if it runs in my family but I know a lot have tummy issues and deficiencies thyriod problems (connected to B12)but they dont seem to biother about getting it checked out this annoyed me at first but oh well I had to let that one go you can lead a horse to water but you cant make it drink!...However my dad has had some tests and a few things are showing up I mentioned celiac to him and he said oh I am not doing that I just smiled and said well its your chioce dad...It does no harm to give it a go if that is not it then thats ok but you never know....

If you have the tests make sure you get the results in writing and get your B12 serum
Folate
Hyc
uMMA (urine test)
Iron studies
CBC
Vit D
Celiac panel there are a few in this one
Gene for celiac

Good luck let us know how you go
