| Pain for nearly two months! No clear answers! :( Is this IBS?
Dear All
I would really appreciate any advice you can offer.
In early October, I woke up feeling highly nauseous, I had a pain in my lower abdomen experienced very bad wind and burped frequently, the symptoms continued for a week and a half yet without vomiting or experiencing severe diarrhoea etc. I felt very tired and wanted just to stay lying down.
Since early October I have had pain in my lower abdomen since.
I visited my doctor; he felt around my stomach and checked for appendicitis etc. Without being able to identify a clear source of the pain, he prescribed ‘Hyoscine butyl bromide tablets’ to relief nausea and he suspected I could have IBS and scheduled me a blood test.
The tablets weren’t very effective yet I became a little better, and attempted to change my diet to be a little more varied.
The blood test results came back fine, however within the two weeks of waiting for them, I began to feel better but then experienced severe nausea and the pain came back more intensive like before.
I sore my GP again but on that occasion the pain was less, he felt around my stomach once again but we found no direct source, he suspected I could have had a bad virus and prescribed gastro resistant ‘oeprazole’ tablets as he suspected I had acid reflux, he also scheduled a urine test after I expressed concern about pain I had experienced.
The tablets helped however, the next day I briefly blacked out even though I had drunk and eaten plenty. The tablets don't kick in for an hour or two and the pain continues after breakfast and in the night.
Two week later (this week), the urine tests came back fine. Yet the pain remains, and I continue to feel tired, nausea and not 100%.
In conclusion my symptoms include:
-Lower abdominal pain (just below my belly button) that occurs the worst after eating, yet calms during the day but becomes uncomfortable throughout the night.
-Nausea when the pain occurs (I just want to stay in one position)
-Bad wind (after eating/throughout the night & when I wake up)
-Tiredness
-Lack of appetite
-Little weight loss 1-2kg (2.2-4.4 lbs) nothing concerning
-Pain urinating (previously experienced)
*Don’t know if it’s related, bit weird I know but my ears have been really sensitive and popping on random occasions, like when sitting down etc.
Thank you so much for reading, I really appreciate any advice you may have, I’m scheduled to go on holiday in twenty days, I couldn’t bare feeling like this and having to travel etc, uncomfortabley.
I'm prepared to do anything to stop this, it's so disturbing and I'm an active person + student pilot so being indoors sucks!
I don't smoke/drink and actively exercise, I was meant to cycle 40miles today but the bloated felling/constant pain remains, I just can't.
Regards
Joseph
