Best Antispasmodic Medicine To Use? - Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) Message Board

I was trying to get a count on who thinks what is the best antispasmodic that they have ever used? Please list away as I have tried quite a few. But would love to know which ones seem to work best for others!

Also anyone have any luck on using an anti depressant to calm their stomach, like Lexapro, etc?

I use homeopathic remidies. And the best remedy that I have ever used for spasms and cramping is Magnesia Phos. -- 6X potency will do fine and it can be repeated every 35 minutes or so.

It is available at health food stores.
Regular medicine does not have anything that works as well.

Levsin has been a lifesaver for me. I also have pain meds for when it's really bad to take with the antispasmodic meds

I have been on pain meds for years for the spasms I get with my IBS. I am a chronic pain patient now and go to a PM doctor. I have had lung surgery since I started with the IBS and also now have spinal arthritis, which is very painful.

I do take Lexapro, but the doctor put me on it several years ago as more of a precaution medicine than anything else. I certainly was not depressed at the time.

Pain meds for IBS, how do you get those? My GI doc has never once suggested pain meds? Do you need to go to a pain management doc?
