O.K. I have had gallbladder surgery in January. I am still having pain under my right ribcage and is goes in towards my back. When I take a deep breath in it hurts really bad.
I also have alot of gas and burp alot after I eat. My doctors says it sounds like IBS and has put me on Zelnorm pills. I am always constipated and when I finally do go, it has mucus in it. Sometimes it looks like something that would come out of your nose if u have a cold. I apoligize for this sounding gross, but it is the only way to explain it. My question is, does this sound like IBS to you?
I have also recently not been able to hold down beef products....I get really bad stomach cramps and vomit.
I am going to the doctor and they have done an ultra sound on my abdominal area. I am just waiting on the results. They have done blood work and that all came back fine. Thanks for taking the time to read this.

Sounds like you need to start Metamucil. This is water soluble fiber and can safely be taken twice daily with plenty of water. This will help bulk up your stools. If you need a stool softener then sodium docusate is good.

Also, if you have gas, then start Acidophilus caps/probiotics. These contain Lactobacillus which are the friendly bacteria that live in your gut. Keep them in the fridge and take them twice daily on an empty stomach. You should start to notice the difference within a few days.

It is not uncommon to have bowel problems after GB surgery as as the bile has nowhere else to go, it hangs around in your bowels causing you problems, although diarrhea is more common.
