Thumbs up IBS really a parasite infection>>>

I found a website that suggested that IBS is really in many cases a parasite infection, at least if the symptoms are mainly diarrhea. What say you world? The following text is from that website.

In 1998 I posted my story on an internet newsgroup and shortly afterwards began to receive emails from other people many of whom had also been diagnosed with D.fragilis, and also found it difficult to get an initial diagnoses, effective treatment, and information or help from their doctors or specialists.

Many of these people had endured years of ill health and were told their symptoms are due to stress, or IBS or some other unknown cause, and that they would just have to learn live with it.
These emails are surely testament to the need for correct testing of amoebic parasites in both symptomatic children and adults and the need for Dientamoeba fragilis to be taken far more seriously as a cause of chronic ill health in some people, and less serious IBS like symptoms in others.

While Parasites are one of the main contributors to the Colick in Horses, I don't think that's so much the case with humans.
Not discounting the problems a parasite infestation can create if parasites are present.
However, I think most of the research I've seen is focusing on the reality of food allergies, trauma to the intestinal tract, such as intestinal infections(even from a virus or a flu)
and possible links to autoimmune disorders.
I know in women the presence of Endometriosis and adhesions stuck to the outside of the colon contribute to a plethoria of unpleasant chronic irritable bowel problems.
So I think parasites are a smaller irritation trigger than some other considerations.

Re: IBS really a parasite infection>>>

Doctors used to, a long time ago, treat people for parasites. We hear about our fruits and vegetables being contaminated constantly on t.v. by parasites and disease. Lettuce must be cleaned. Most restaurants don't properly clean it. 99% of us have worms and parasites. Check it out. drug companies and doctors are making the big bucks treating our symptoms. In third world countries people are routinely treated and checked for parasites. Yes, our standards may be higher, but are they fool proof? When was the last time they checked you or anyone you know for parasites or treated someone for it? The problem exists. Mebendezole kills parasites and is extremely cheap.

Well, I do not contest the fact that a portion of sufferers may be due to parasites. I do not think it is the case in the majority of sufferers. My first diagnosis was a parasitic infection, and was given Flagyl. Not only did it NOT help, I developed peripheral neuropathy as well. I understood that food could also be a trigger, being lactose intolerant and all, so in addition to looking for a second opinion I changed my diet and lo and behold many of the symptoms cleared up. The answer in the referenced article seems to suggest a simplistic solution to a very complex set of symptoms
