Smokers Read This! - Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) Message Board

A few days ago I posted a message saying that I felt that smoking and my IBS symptoms might be related, so i decided to stop smoking. As it only takes 5 days for nicotine to get out of your system, I'm happy to report that I am no longer experiencing any symptoms. Call it Psychological (I've a psych degree) or what have you but it's certainly helped me.
I've encountered several websites that link Tobacco usage with irritating IBS, and that have said that certain brands may effect you more than others. I've found personally that I can handle the effects of Camel Red LIghts but not any of the other Camel brands lol. Each tobacco is different.
I realize that this may not help many of you, but try giving up tobacco for just 2 days and see if you feel any better.

I gave up smoking for three months. NO relief.
It must just be an individual thing.

I gave up smoking, things got worse. Now I only smoke on occasion for fear that too much smoke or too little can have disasterous effects. I KNOW this will not apply to many, but it certainly applies to ME!

Yeah I tried to quit too and it made things much worse. Maybe it was the added anxiety from trying not to smoke...but whatever it was, I didnt enjoy it. LOL.
