I had a colonoscopy last year(i was 23) I was diagnosed with ibs. My question is..is it something to be worried about. I feel sick alot, and during stress it sucks. Does fiber really work?
Hi worrywart. Be thankful your colonoscopy did not show something more serious than IBS. That said, IBS is a real downer, and yes, you can feel pretty bad with it. Some days you may feel really good, but stress or just a general "flare-up" can ruin everything again. Fiber is a great place to start; fiber is a bowel regulator, therefore, it works for both constipation and diarrhea. It doesn't matter what fiber you use, but a natural fiber like Metamucil is better for your system than a synthetic fiber like Fibercon. Be prepared for a few days of increased gas/bloating as your body adjusts to increased fiber.

Thank you katie! I am very thankful for not finding something serious! I am only 24 and IBS is difficult on a social life.. I hate the bloating and gas, I just take maloxx max for that. I will try the fiber, I just heard that it is really nasty stuff! I will do whatever makes me feel better..I am going in a trip in a few days..wish me luck. Thanks again.
