Post Hives, Cysts or Infections

Im not sure whether it is related to IBS or not, but maybe others experience these symptoms also.

- An ability to gain infections easily. Often cysts (swollen lumps), mainly on the face, sometimes other places too.

- Hives, or irritation on the skin. Especially where clothes rub.

- Areas like under the eye, will suddenly become swollen overnight for no apparent reason.

I only find these happen for periods of time, not 'all' the time. May or may not be related, has anyone noticed something similar?

Cool

I have noticed that I itch more than normal... Every once in a while if I get really warm, or nervous or embarassed, my neck and chest turn really red and I start itching in very strange places like between my fingers and toes and the bottom of my feet, and my backside cheeks! It is wierd. The Dr said it may have something to do with IBS, or it may not.

Thats the conclusion I am coming too aswell. My old doc thought it came back to a skin infection that breeds funly enough between your fingers), he was a skin specialist on the side.

Ive concluded atleast in my case that my antibodies must be down and so im unable to fight off these little infections all the time. But it doesnt sound like an IBS related issue at all.

Ok, the cysts that you describe, rather than being infections and related to low immunity is more likely to do with your immune system being on high alert. The fact that you get itching too is more to do with an allergy, which is caused by overproduction rather than underproduction of the immune system.

Also, yes, I think that this is directly linked to your IBS myself. A lot of IBS symptoms are due to the liver being too toxic and not getting rid of things that it should do and if this happens, like in the instances where you get very constipated, this is likely to happen, when your liver gets too over toxic and cannot cope, then you will get itching and cysts on the skin. A lot of IBS symptoms are linked to the liver.

I would suggest that you could benefit by taking the herbal remedy Milk Thistle. You can take this in liquid or capsule form and it is not harmful and it helps the liver to detox more effectively generally and also helps hepatocyte regeneration this is liver cell regeneration. You can take it twice daily and you should start to notice a difference/improvement.

Good luck.

Hmmm OK Sarah thanks for the liver suggestion, I will look into some regulated dietary changes when I move out of home in a few months time, I want a consistent environment where I can maintain the changes and measure their effects.

As for the antibody situation though, there is definately something funny going on there. Acc to my bloodtests, my body has been fighting off an unknown infection (only small) for many years. Every new blood test I get, the levels have not come down. Ive always assumed that is why I am so susceptable to further infections.

The connection between IBS and the liver is not such a ridiculous idea at all. Any doctor will tell you that the liver is the largest organ of elimination within the body, besides the skin of course and if this gets over toxic in any way, it can definitely produce symptoms such as yours. Also, if you have itching of your skin and other things being produced on your skin, then this is actually a very good thing and you should not try to suppress this in any way. Anything that is on your skin maybe a little unsightly and irritating, but in the long run, it will do you less harm than being in another place in your body. If you suppress things that appear on the skin, then this pushes the effects further into the body and you can get deeper things occuring. A classic example of this is children who have eczema in childhood and are given steroid creams. These steroid creams suppress it and it disappears, or so they think. No more problems, until they suddenly find that they develop asthma in later life and asthma can have drastic affects as we know.

Being into alternative therapies also, I tend to talk about things from an energetic viewpoint. If you go and see any Traditional acupuncturist, they will tell you that IBS symptoms are related to the Liver and the Spleen. The Liver is reponsible for the smooth flow of Qi around the body and although it is considered to be a Yin organ, it is so powerful that it can invade, or take over other organs that might be weak, the Spleen being the organ in question. The Spleen is involved in IBS a lot, as it is involved in what you eat a lot and weak Spleen Qi can give you a lot of diarrhea, also involved in IBS. The IBS symptoms would actually be known as the Liver invading the Spleen, or Wood invading Earth, from a 5 Element perspective.

One other point is that all the organs have feelings attached to them and the Liver is predominantly to do with Anger. The Heart - Joy, the Spleen/Stomach is to do with thoughtfullness, the Lungs/Colon are to do with Grief and are all about letting go and the Kidneys/Bladder are to do with Fear and lack of support.

Do you have any issues around anger at all such as inability to express your anger appropriately or do you deal with it by suppressing it?

This would be very interesting to know and from looking at if from an energetic perspective in Chinese Medicine it can be seen very clearly how the Liver is involved in IBS.

I would suggest that you investigate some acupuncture treatment, but I would also suggest that you take the Milk Thistle. This could really help your liver to detox more effectively, thus helping you to feel better.

Good luck
