| | Any advice?
Hi, I was dignosed with ibs over a year ago, i have ibs d and c alternately and as yet I havent figured out my triggers, food wise. I was told my history of anxiety and depression was the cause the ibs, but that if I stuck to a healthy diet my digestive system would sort itself out in the end. The problem I have is that the healthier I eat ie fruit veg and salad, the worse my ibs seems to be, although even if I eat nothing at all I still get it! The symptom I find the worst to cope with is the excessive amount of gas I have which is worse with ibs c. I take acidophilus caps, calcium supp, multivitamin, evening primrose and kelp supp but not much change in symptoms. My question is, if I had to cut out fruit veg n salad to make the gas less of a problem what could I take for fibre that also didnt cause gas? Im in the uk and the medication that has been talked about on here doesnt seem to be available in the uk including the fibre supplements. Any suggestions?
Also I just recently gave up smoking and that has made my ibs ten times worse for some reason.
Any insight and advice welcome.
