I have been posting on the pregnancy board and just noticed this one. I was complaining about abdominal pain and constipation for about a month when I ended up going to the ER and was than diagnosed with IBS. For the past month, my stomach has been so bloated that I cannot fit into my pants and is sensitive to touch. I do get naseaus after eating. My question is has it ever effected your period? My most recent one was very short and very light and I can figure out if I am pregnant or whether this is a symptom of IBS. Thanks for any input!

oh and one more thing! ... do any of you feel like tiny needle pricks almost like little electric zaps on your stomach or near your belly button? I told that to the doctors in the ER and they were just mystified?!

My IBS does not effect my perioid. I just get alot of loose bowel movements around this time.

The sensations you are experiencing around your stomach I never heard of that.

My periods seems to affect the IBS. My symptoms get a lot worse at that time.

IBS probably will get worse at the time of your period and this is hormonal. This is to do with the hormones estrogen and progesterone being out of balance and unfortunately, progresterone has a direct effect on the smooth muscle of your gut and intestines and can cause increased stomach pains and cramping and diarrhea.
