Question Blood...should I tell my doctor?

Not to be graphic, but lately when I am really constipated, after I strain to go I notice that there are little spots of bright red blood in the stool, sometimes mixed in with mucus. I say no when my doctor asks if there is any blood in it, because I didn't think this was too serious since there is not a lot and it usually only happens when I am really straining to get it out. Do you think I should tell my doctor about it, just to be on the safe side?

I think whenever there is rectal blood it should be checked out by your Doctor. It's just the safe thing to do!!!

Hi, I had blood in my stool and I am 25 years old I went to the doc and had a colonoscopy done and I have ibs and internal hemmroids, that is what caused the blood in my stool. usually red blood is o.k. when your stool is black is when to worry. go see your doc though, it could be nothing. hope this helps.

I agrew with Harry on this one. Any time blood is in the stool you should mention this to your doctor. Any information that you can provide me may be helpful in the diagonsis.

Good Luck
