I am 32yo female. Approx. 10 weeks ago I started feeling pressure in my lower abdomon (sp?). That lasted for 3 weeks. Went to dr. who did US. US didn't show anything except for "a tremendous amount of gas". Dr said it was IBS and just increase fiber intake. Became constipated about wk 4 and filled up with so much gas I felt like I would pop. Was having periodic cramping everywhere in my abdomon and stomach pain. I could feel it in my back. Also felt like I could completely relieve myself of BM. Was straining alot. Saw new Dr. Gave me Protonix and Donnatol. BM started to clear up as did cramping. Started having pain on both sides under my ribs. Would increase throughout the day and by night become pretty uncomfortable. Went back to Dr. He gave me Levbid for pain under ribs. Is working but I can tell it is still there. Have appt with GI Wed.
I feel like I'm being blown off with an IBS diag. Does this sound like IBS? Does IBS just come out of the blue? Also, I'm I too old for a first time diag of IBS?
What types of tests should I insist on to confirm this is not something more serious than IBS?
Any info would be great
