Re: left side colon pain and pressure???

Hey andym,
Idk how old this thread is but i have had very similar pains. I have had just about every doctor test done and all came back with nothing. I have also changed diet in countless ways. The docs did diagnose me with IBS, basically the diagnosis when they cant find anything else. But yet could not find a cure. I felt as though i had something in my lower colon that could not move past a certain spot or that it was just really tight. I ended up seeing a psychiatrist and she believed it to be caused by anxiety. I am not sure If you have looked in to that being a possibility or not. perhaps ask you doc to prescribe you some type of mild anxiety med such a klonopin and see if it does not relieve the pain. klonopin is a fast acting anti anxiety med that is something you can take as needed. I just looked at the threat and i think this is from 2003...so this is prolly of no use. ha

Re: left side colon pain and pressure???

HI all

I have just had another IBS attack- own stoopid fault for eating onions 2 days ago!

I hear you about the pain! My stomach is now flat right under my ribs but down on my right hand side when I press my tummy about 4 inches under my ribs its really tender and sore. I am assuming from all of the cramping and squeezing of the intestines inside!!!.

God I wish someone would find a cure for this!! Also is this just a disease of modern day society? Has anyone got any relatives who are older say in their 70's who have this?

Re: left side colon pain and pressure???

andym.... I believe the rope knot in your left side is a sigmoid, you have one in your right you will mostlikely not notice it, but left one is usually substantouly more enlarged because it is part of your colon and lower intestines. Im thin and wondered what this ropy feeling thing about four inche long and diameter of a dime. the pain in your back and left side, can you feel the pressure and irratation when you tighten your stomach and act like you are making a bowl movement. Or when you stick out your stomach do you get pain in your right side.
