Post Eggs and IBS

In connection to my thread "Evolving symptoms..." I was wondering if eggs and egg products can be a source of problems and if the reaction of eggs can be the sme as to wheat or grains.

I do not know many people who have this intolerance but I would like to know more from those with experience with this intolerance.

I have IBS and a couple hours after I eat eggs I am absolutely misreble. I try and stay away from them but once in a while I get a craving and give in and then pay for it later.

Is this something that you developed over time or have you always had this.

What about just egg whits and not whole eggs?

I can't eat eggs either, but it hit me suddenly. The more they're cooked, the worse my reaction is. I think its the sulfur in the yokes that causes the horrible gas pains. I just avoid them, or anything made with them.

Thanks for the reply as a test I decided to eat some eggs. I scrambled and cooked them in Canola oil.
about two hours later I got some severe pain it was sharp pain at the bottom of my stomach. There was a lot of gas build up and some BM. It lasts for about 1/2 day and then I am ok. Like you this has happened suddenly.
Have you tried just egg whites? From a cholestrol standpoint it may be better.
From a recipe standpoint, what ingrediants should I look for to avoid egg and egg products?

I've noticed that if something contains eggs, it will say "eggs" in the listing of ingredients.

Don't forget that meatloaf and lasagna are sometimes made with eggs.

I think I have a problem with eggs too, maybe this has something to do with my morning loose stools. I used to eat either eggs or some sort of bread or both every day. I remember eating keisch(don't know the spelling)and having diarrhea the next day.

what about egg substitute, like egg beaters? i had this for lunch yesterday and have been experiencing IBS D since then. i am not sure if this is what caused it. i also just started taking Levsin, so that might be the cause.

That is a good idea, I did not think about Egg beaters.
I took eggs out for a couple of days and felt alright, Then I put it back in and started to feel bad again.
There is a couple of things that I felt, gas like heartburn. It was kinda in the pit of my stomach and felt really gaseous. I think I will do the following
1) Eat only egg whites
2 Then eat egg beaters

I will see what happens. but is the problem occuring because of the egg proteins which are found mostly in the egg whites or is it a substance in the yolk.

Thanks,

Well, I have not had eggs for the past couple of days, no egg whites or anything. I will keep these out for another three days and see what happens. I am hoping that I do not come across anything with eggs in it.
